El Paso & Southwestern yard and depot at Tucson, Arizona, 1917

The El Paso & Southwestern built their Tucson extension in 1912. It became part of the Southern Pacific in November, 1924, and this part of the railroad became known as the South Line.

The roundhouse is still here, although used as a sales office and warehouse for a building materials company. The depot was used for several years as Carlos Murphy's Irish Mexican Restaurant, since closed. The elegant building still stands, it's fountain and garden pathways still gracing the Federal Courthouse area.
